Anna's fourth Berlin Operation, February 2007

We flew out of Stansted Airport on the 17th February, arriving at Tegel Airport, Berlin at 4.00pm. On the 18th February we went to see Dr Waner, Prof. Jovanovic and Dr Kandilakis at The Benjamin Franklin Hospital in Berlin, Dr Waner told us that he had a new CO2 laser that he thought would help Anna. Unfortunately, he did not have his one with him so had to get it shipped in especially.

17th February: Anna before her operation. The red lines show where Dr Waner made incision's on the inside of Anna's bottom lip, and the blue areas show where Dr Waner used his CO2 laser
Anna with her friend Hannah, who came to see Dr Waner for a consultation
18th February: Anna with her friend Harry, who was also operated on by Dr Waner. Over the period of two days Dr Waner and his team were to see about 90 people, children and adults, his services are now very much in demand. When we saw him on our first trip to Berlin he was only seeing 12 - 15 other patients.
21st February: After waiting for the CO2 laser to arrive Anna's operation was scheduled for Wednesday 21st Feb. The picture on the left is of Anna waiting to go into the operating theatre.

21st February: Anna after coming back from the operation.
The operation went very well, Anna was gone for only about three hours and when we went to pick her up from the recovery room she was already awake and talkative.
