Anna's Second Berlin Operation, February / March 2005

We flew out of London City Airport on the 24th February, arriving at Tegel Airport, Berlin at 2.30pm. On the 25th February we went to see Dr Waner, Prof. Jovanovic and Dr Kandilakis at The Benjamin Franklin Hospital in Berlin, they told us that the operation was due for Monday the 28th and that we should be at the hospital for 9am.

26th Feb: Anna and Annette walking in the Tiergarten park. The temperature at night sometimes dropped to -10, but at least we were not in Stuttgart where it dropped to -22 (a bit cold):

28th Feb: Anna, playing with her friend Harry Wild who she was to share a room with.

28th Feb: Anna getting 'Magic Cream' on her hands in readiness for her surgery.
Anna had some sedation to her her relax before her surgery, she was number 4 on a list of five patients that day for surgery by Dr Waner. She went to theatre at 3pm, Anna finally came back to us at 9pm after spending 2 hours in the recovery room.

1st March: Anna with a large eye patch on playing with Harry Wild.
2nd March : Anna with her eye patch removed, the night before Anna had to have her arm tied to her leg by a nurse as she kept on trying to scratch at her stitches.
2nd March: Anna in the play room at the hospital showing us the bruising around her eyes and mouth, (looks like she has gone another ten rounds with Mike Tyson) at this stage she could still not open her eye.

4th March: Anna with her Nan and Granddad who we would like to thank for looking after Anna's brothers while we were away, we would also like to thank everyone who helped Anna and us whilst we were in Germany, especially the Wild's, Dr Kandilakis, Prof Jovanovic and Dr Waner. And to everyone who has contributed towards Anna's fund who made this trip possible.
