Linux Stuff

I've been using Linux since 1999, starting with Caldera OpenLinux 2.2 then moving to Mandrake from version 7.0 onwards. I'd used Unix back in about 1987, and was impressed with it, so I was pleased to get back into a Unix-like environment. Only this time it was far better as I had the double benefit of the command line and a graphical desktop.

I've been posting on the alt.os.linux.mandrake newsgroup for quite a while now and thought it was about time I made an extra contribution in the form of this section of the website. You'll find here a fair bit of the text I've posted in answer to people's questions about, and problems with, Linux in general and Mandrake in particular. There are some tutorials (mainly for people at an intermediate level of Linux knowhow), some hints and tips (mostly in the form of short answers to some not-so-frequently-asked questions, and some Perl scripts I thought you might find useful.

Anything you find in this section is free for your own use provided that you acknowledge me as the source. Since I currently don't have time to go through every article checking them, I feel bound to tell you that, although most of the content of the articles is harmless, you try anything suggested in them  entirely at your own risk.
