Left Binbrook Aerodrome in Lincolnshire on the 24th February, 1944 in 460 Squadron Lancaster Bomber for an air raid on a ball bearing factory in Schweinfurt, Germany He Failed to return on 25th February, 1944 and was reported missing in action. His Remains are buried at Durnbach War Cemetery near Bad Tolz in Bavaria, Area 7 – Row A – Grave 4, alongside the other six members of his crew, three each side of him. There are memoriams at Lincoln Cathedral and one for 460 Squadron at Binbrook Aerodrome. |

of Wales and HMS Repulse (Force Z under the command of Admiral Tom Phillips) were sunk on
10th December 1941 by Japanese warplanes, about 50 miles from the coast of
Kuantan in Malaya. The loss of life was the greatest ever experienced by the
Royal Navy in one incident; over 840 officers and men died. The Repulse
lost 27 officers and 486 men, the Prince of Wales 20
officers and 307 men. |
