I have read the war diary for The 6th Buffs for September 1916.

13/09/1916.
Considerable amount of wire put out during the night in front of 169/ & 179/. About 8.30.am. the enemy sent some 5.9 shells over some of which fell in CHANCERY LANE causing 2 casualties – 1 killed & 1 wounded. During the morning, the army commander 3rd army L-gen Sir EDMUND ALLENBY. K.C.B.- visited the trenches with g.o.c. 12th Div.

On the 22nd Sep 1916. 2/LT. ZIEGLER was wounded, he died of his wounds the next day.
The above men were the only casualties for the Buffs during September 1916. So I believe that the man wounded on the 13/09/1916 was Joseph Henry Bland, who was then sent back to England and died of his wounds in Dover.

With gallant courage the Colonel led the attack and waving his stick, he shouted the familier words of encouragement of a field day. The adjt was seen to fall, the Col, had already been wounded in the hand and leg and before reaching the enemy line he was hit again in the thighs soon afterwards he fell when hit the 4th time just under the heart.
The line swept on suffering heavy cassualties, four officers were left, but the men gallantly led by there NCO`s and reinforced by the 4th wave carried the first enemy trench and immediately dashes onto the 2nd objective which was also taken. The weakened remnants still pushed forward and the lines of the 3rd objective were in our hand. The Battalion had lost so heavily that the 2nd objective was with difficulty put into a state of defence. There were now no officers left  the Bn had captured 2 strongly fortified lines of trenches that finally establishes themselves on the edge of the village of Orvillers.
