RAPER, WILLIAM FERRY. Signal Boatswain. Royal Navy. H.M.S. "Invincible." Killed in action: The Battle of Jutland. 31/05/1916. Husband of Ivy V. Raper, of 13, Bridge Street, Dover. Kent. Memorial: Portsmouth Naval Memorial. Ref: 11. 

William Ferry Raper, ( A Dovorian ) Signals Bosun, HMS Invincible died 31/05/1916. On Portsmouth Memorial. On CWCG wife Ivy V. Raper listed as resident of 13 Bridge St., Dover (and he is listed as marrying Ivy V. L. Ashby at Dover in 1915) Not listed on the Dover War Memorial.

 31 May 1916. HMS Invincible was sunk by SMS Derfflinger and Lützow at the Battle of Jutland and inflicted fatal damage on Lützow. The world's first battlecruiser, HMS Invincible was sunk with all but six of her crew of 1,032 shortly before the two main battle fleets briefly collided.
