In the Christmas week of 1895 Mr. Vaclav Laurin, mechanic, and Mr.Vaclav Klement, bookseller, began to manufacture Slavia bicycles. Within a few years, in 1899, the Laurin & Klement company started to produce motorcycles which brought numerous successes in international contests.

1905 
The first company car, Voiturette A, became a best-seller and later turned into a Czech classical vintage car. Soon it gained a stable position for the L& K company in the international car market. As the production expanded, the gentlemen L & K founded a joint-stock company in 1907.
