Ruby's Page

Here are a few snaps of our lovely African Grey Parrot called 'Ruby' or Rhubarb if she is good.

We got her just after she had been weaned and you can see Annie having to feed her parrot baby food from a syringe for her first few days.

She is still only a baby at a few months old and could live until she is 70!

Now what happens the first time you put a TV in a parrots cage?

CAUTION

THIS IS SPECIALLY ADAPTED TV IT IS NOT SAFE TO PUT A STANDARD TV INTO A BIRDS CAGE.

Now I'm sure many parrot owners are used to having conversations with their birds and I tell my non birdie friends that I do but I always get sceptical looks. I'm not saying we'd get far with nuclear physics but they ARE real conversations just parrot style. Normally involving a parrots angle on humour.

I recorded a short but typical conversation for your enjoyment.

This video shows the body language of a trusting African Grey Parrot. Note the dropped wings and the raised foot indicating 'touch me please'
