NESS BOTANIC GARDENS
Ness Botanic Gardens was born of one man's passionate interest in plants and his desire to share that interest with others. When the Liverpool cotton merchant Arthur Kilpin Bulley began to create a garden in 1898, part of which he opened to local residents, he laid the foundations of one of the major botanic gardens in the United Kingdom, a learning garden with plant introductions from all over the world. On his behalf, pioneering plant collectors scoured the temperate regions of the Far East for alpine and hardy plants which could be cultiivated in our climate.
After his death, in 1942, the gardens were bequeathed, in 1948, to the University of Liverpool by his daughter Lois Bulley.
A garden of noteable international repute, it continues in excellence in research, conservation and public education.

THE EPIC LEISURE CENTRE
EPIC Leisure Centre, located in Ellesmere Port, is one of the largest and best equipped centres in the region.
It received a special Sports Council commendation in 1995. Facilities include swimming pool, activities Hall,
large sports hall, climbing wall, fitness suite, sunbeds, bar and function suite, and a 144 seater cinema / theatre.
The centre has good access throughout for people with a disability including lift, toilets, changing rooms,
poolside hoist and service call facility.

THE STANNEY OAKS LEISURE CENTRE
Complimenting the facilities at EPIC is Stanney Oaks Leisure Centre,
located just half a mile away.
A brand new floodlit synthetic pitch suitable for hockey or football has been added to provide excellent outdoor facilities.

NESTON RECREATION CENTRE
Neston Recreation Centre,
winner of the Sports Council management award for the best joint-use centre in the North-West
has extensive indoor and outdoor facilities. These include swimming pool, sports hall, Connections fitness suite, sunbed,
squash courts and all weather pitches for hockey, tennis and 5-a-side football.
Sports coaching courses are a particular feature at Neston. The centre has a service call facility for people with a

Venue for one of the North-West's major amateur tournaments,
Ellesmere Port Golf Centre has a challenging 18 hole
public course set in beautiful woodland near Hooton on the A41. Golfers can also enjoy the attraction of
