Hi There!

Following recent bulletins regarding modifications to the
Alinco DJ-G5, here are a few which may be of use.

                     User Modifications for Alinco DJ-G5E
                     ====================================
1) Extending the Receiver Range
===============================

A keypad modification needs to be carried out in order to open up
the complete receiver coverage of the DJ-G5E. This is necessary as some
markets in the world do not allow the importation of wide-band receivers.
The modification only has to be done once, (unless you reset the receiver)
and is easily carried out. To extend the receive range, press and hold the
function button and press the button marked "FL" twice to put the full
frequecy lock on. The digital display of the receiver will confirm that this
has been done when "FL" appears. Then whilst pressing and holding the function
button in, press the # key and press the numbers 212. As soon as you have
done this the receiver will respond with an "OPEN" message on the digital
display. Press and hold in the function button and press the "FL" button once
so that the frequecy lock is switched off. You can now make use of the entire
frequency range as listed below. This modification can be done on the VHF or
the UHF band, the result is the same. If you wish to revert to the factory set
coverage then simply reverse the above proceedure and you will find that the
display will read "CLOSED". Resetting the transceiver will also have the
same effect. To RESET, make sure that the radio is switched off, then press
and hold the function button in whilst switching the unit on. Resetting the
radio will erase any memories that you have put into it.

The full extended range after modification is-: AM/FM 108 - 173.995 +
                                                      400 - 511.995.
                                                   FM 800 - 999.990 Mhz.

Airband can only be received on left hand VFO.

AM/FM is switched by FUNC and "6"

Left  hand VFO = 108 - 174 + 400 - 512 Mhz
Right hand VFO = 130 - 174 + 400 - 512 + 800 - 1000 Mhz


2) Cross Band Repeater Mode
===========================

To enable is mode, with radio switched off, hold "0" and then turn radio on.
To cancel, repeat the above instruction.

3) Channel Number Display
=========================

This only allows memory channel numbers to be displayed. To enable, to
frequency lock on. Then while holding down function button, press #986.

To disable the above, press and hold function button and press *284
