  Mowsbury 4 - 1 Biggleswade 1 -  Monday 25 Sept:

Biggleswade 1st team travelled to Mowsbury to play their second game of the season.

John Cole Edwards was first on court and although JC was playing some brilliant shots and moving his opponent around the court, fitness told in the end and JC lost 3-2.

Next on court was Richard Anthony who played a good solid game matching his very experienced opponent shot for shot but Richard just let the games slip away in the final few points of each game and the results was a 3-0 defeat for Richard.

Martin Wright started his match confidently and was soon establishing a lead.  His opponent staged a mini comeback but Martin was always in control and went on to win 3-1.

Simon Gray was next on court and started in typically determined fashion but the game slipped slowly away and Simon lost 3-0.

Tony Rumbold was the last to go on court but as hard as he tried, his opponent was just too strong and he also lost 3-0.

  Biggleswade 2nds
Biggleswade 2nds (formally know as the virgins) played their first competitive squash match at Carlton winning the match 5-0

David "the bar" Tysom went on first winning the first game 9-4. the second game saw his opponent fight back with some hard hitting shots and win 9-7 but Dave, using his last years experience, finished the game the stonger winning 9-6 9-5

Next on court saw Alex the doctor Smallwood  winning 9-7 10-8 8-10 4-9 9-4 for a 3-2 victory but watching him you would have thought he had all the time in the world, or perhaps he still had a flame for his old club.

Next to play was Alex commuting Boswell playing for the first time for Biggleswade his first game was a breeze winning 9-0 then he decided to have cup tea, (or perhaps dreaming when Rangers might beat Celtic) any way he lost that game 9-6 but came good winning the next two. The last two to go were Nigel Wilson who won 3-1 making his American opponent even more unhappy after resent Ryder cup results.

Finally Tesco Dan went on court who won his match 3-2 this was an up and down match with missed call for strokes but as Dan would say "every little helps"

Well done team that's two wins out of two next match home to open university next Monday (message to the first team see you January)

  Biggleswade 2 – David Lloyd 3

Biggleswade Squash clubs first team began their season in the Beds Div 1 league on Monday evening.  The visiting opponents were David Lloyd 1, one of the favorites to finish top of the league.

First on court was John Cole Edwards who was soon into his game and a combination of stylish shots and good length saw him win the first game.  Unfortunately, due to a long summer lay off for JC, and a very determined opponent, the next two games went to the visiting team.  JC quickly composed himself and eased the final two games to win 3-2.  Next on court was Chris Chin who started well and went into an early 1 game lead.  This seemed to awaken Chris’s opponent and he was tearing around the court and soon went into a 2-1 lead.

The fourth game was closely fought and the score was even at 7 all until Chris managed to snatch it 9-7.  Two very tired players began the final game.  Chris dug deep and with some intelligent play, eased to victory 3-2.

Martin Wright was next to do battle and a very hard-hitting and fast game ensued.  Although Martin seemed to be playing well, the points were going against him and he had soon lost 3-0 to a very good opponent.

This left Simon Gray or Tony Rumbold to clinch victory for Biggleswade.  Simon battled well and played some excellent shots before going down 3-0 to a very fit opponent.  So, it was left to Tony to claim glory and try to win the match for Biggleswade.  Unfortunately his opponent was sheer class and never let Tony settle into his game and stormed to a 3-0 win.
