The are plenty of place to eat in Gran Canaria and if you look you can find the odd burger king or Macdonalds if that’s your thing.
In the Yumbo center you can find plenty of Chinese restaurants offering eat as much as you can for as little as 5-6 Euros. On the second floor you can find a steak house that offers a varied menu at value prices. The is an Indian on the ground floor and a Kebab shop on the second but we avoided them. Every bar on the island seems to serve their own versions of our own pub grub ranging from the mundane toasties to all day breakfasts.

We found a nice place called “Moby dicks” on Av. De Tirajana. This was a trendy little place and the staff were excellent. Friendly and efficient we never had to wait long for our food and to top the lot they served a mixture of foods which meant we could have gammon, steak and breakfast here amongst others. To be honest it was so good here towards the end of the holiday we went no where else for our food. They served a mean Sunday roast (if that’s your thing) and a good pint- the meals were not to expensive either.
All the food we came across on the island was well cooked and we never had to send any of our food back with a complaint.

The only thing I did worry about at first, was that they put ice in our drinks and you should’nt really drink their water (even the ice can cause stomach upsets), so when I asked about it, I was relieved to find that the is some sort of rule or law which states that the ice served in the drinks has to be brought in from a natural spring or something like that, which means you won’t get ill.

At Playa del ingles and Maspalomas beach the were a host of bars, cafes and restaurants all lining the beach that offered just about every meal you could imagine.
The meal prices and beer prices did vary a little from place to place but as a general guide for two of us to have a pint it cost roughly 5 to 6 Euros and for food it was about 10-12  Euros, excluding our drinks. Being as at the time a Euro was worth about 71 pence it was good value for what you got.

The are a few places that I would’nt eat from, they were few and far between and they tended to be dodgy looking or have a large amount of flies hanging around the food, hence I would’nt go in. And no doubt you’ll spot them yourself

The service from most places was nothing short of excellent but the are places where you are not treated so well as customers are in the UK and these tend to be the restaurants and not the bars. The was one in Puerto Mogan in a side street near the Market start, here the staff were idiots. It was a seafood themed bar and the waiters needed a good slap to be honest.
