did all catch fish. The venue was changed for this match due to
boats moored on our other stretch and the grass has not been cut

Match Report for the Canal at Grovelands on 18/01/09
A good turnout for the Canal with 12 anglers turning
up. It was quite mild to begin with but turned colder after a
couple of hours. (At least the rain stayed away). The water was very
murky for half of the pegs and a nice colour for the remainder.
(Although the murky pegs produced the best weights). The draw was
done at 9am and we fished 10 - 3. At the weigh ih Richard strange
came in first on peg 7 with 4.2.0. He fished the Pole at various
lengths wih a variety of baits. In second was Scott Miller on peg 11

Match Report for Walters Lake on 07/12/08
Well, what can be said. An excellent turnout of 17
anglers for our Christmas Match. It was a cold and frosty day and we
had to delay the start by 45 minutes to enable us all to break the
ice in our swims. (About 1/4 inch thick). So as you would expect, we
were not in for a good days sport. The draw was done at 9am and
we fished 10.45 - 3. We were on Whites. At the weigh in, what
with the freezing weather, the weights were awful. Richard Strange
came in 1st on peg 4 with 1.13.0, catching Roach at about 14m on the
pole with red maggot as bait. In second place was Paul Willoughby on
peg 6 with a weight of 1.2.0, using the same tactics. In third on
peg 3 was Pete Oliver with 0.2.0 using the pole at about 9m. Only
six of us caught fish, the other three all weighing in one ounce.
Terrible!

this match. It was a cold and breezy day, the lake had some colour

the island. In second place was Andy Wiffin drawn on peg 7 with a

Not a bad turnout for this match, with 9 turning up for
the Roach Cup. It was a very calm day with a misty start, a bit of a
flow to the river and all in all we thought we were in for a good
days fishing. The draw was done at 8am and we fished 9 - 3. At
the weigh it turned out not to be as good as we thought. Nick
Collier came in 1st on peg 2 with 3.9.8, catching on the pole with

the outlet.

It was nice to see 9 anglers showing up for this one,
well done and lets hope we always get this many on the river. It was

pace to it so we were looking forward to a good days fishing. The

Miller came in 1st on peg 8 with 11.13.0, all caught on the pole at
about 11mtrs. In second place was Roy Cox drawn on the outlet with a

A very poor turnout again with only 7 anglers turning
up. (It was a Saturday and I know people had to work.) The draw was
done at 8am and we fished 9-2. We were drawn on pegs 41 - 52. It was
quite a calm day with mostly showers, clearing up towards the end of

straight lead with pellet. In second place was Scott Miller with

Only seven of us for this one, which is a bit poor I'm
sorry to say, as this was for the Tony Beckett memorial cup. We did
the draw at 8am and fished 9 - 2. The day was blustery and sunny,
and quite hot when not in the wind. The river had a reasonable flow
to it and a nice colour, but it was very hard fishing. At the
weigh in George Thomas came in first on peg 13 with 3.2.0, catching
a few roach and chublets on the waggler with maggot as bait, and one
2lb skimmer on the maggot feeder. (All caught in the first hour!) In

again.

Match Report for Lemington (Abbey) on 18/05/08
A good turnout for this our first match of the new
season, with 12 anglers competing. We did the draw at 8am and fished
9 - 2. The day was quite breezy and overcast, generally feeling cold
apart from when the sun made an appearance. We were drawn on pegs 28
- 39 and had the wind coming straight at us for most of the day.
With about 2 hours to go the wind changed slightly and those lucky
enough to be on the lower numbered pegs started to catch the
Carp. At the weigh in Bob Hobbs came in first on peg 29 with
12.14.0, catching mainly Carp on the Pole with maggot as bait. In a
very close second place was Bernie Prior on peg 28 with 12.13.0,
using the same tactics. In third place was Roy Cox on peg 33 with
12.6.0, using a groundbait feeder with red maggot. All in all a good
days fishing with everyone catching, just a pity the weights weren't
higher.

expected being as the league had virtually been won already. We had
pegs 15 - 27. The draw was done at 9.00 and we fished 10.00 -

arrival. There was a slight breeze and the water colour was nice,
but all in all a bad days fishing. At the weigh in Scott Miller
came in first on peg 17 with 3.2.0, catching one Tench and a Roach
on the Pole with maggot as bait. In second place was George Thomas

0.15.0, again on the pole, catching two roach. Steve Cox lost a
double figure carp on the feeder and thought he'd blown his chances

Match Report for the Winter League at Boddington
Reservoir on 16/03/08
A good turnout with 11 anglers braveing the wind for
this one. We were supposed to be on pegs 83 - 95, but with the wind
straight at us it was decided that we would go on the Dam Wall
instead. The draw was done at 9.15 because of the change and we
fished 10.15 - 3.15. It was very hard fishing with very few

but it had no colour to it. We did the draw at 9 and fished 10 - 3.
At the weigh in Steve Cox came in first with a chub of 4.13.0 caught
on the feeder with maggot as bait. In second place was new member

Match Report for the Winter League at Boddington
Reservoir on 13/01/08
Not a bad turnout with 10 competitors turning up. It was
a cold and breezy start to the day, and it stayed that way! The Draw
took place at 9am and we fished 10 - 3. The water was a horrible
muddy colour and the fishing was very hard. Three anglers blanked
and four only caught one or two fish. However it was hard fought for
the top position with only four ounces separating the top two. At
the weigh in Nick Collier on peg 78 came in first with 39.12.0
caught on the bomb with orange boilie and a pellet PVA bag. In
second place on peg 77 was Scott Miller with 39.8.0 using the method
with corn as bait. In third place was Roy Cox on peg 74 with 21.4.0
on the feeder with corn.

Match Report for the Winter League on the Canal at
Grovelands on 01/06/08
A reasonable turnout for this our first Winter League
match with 8 anglers turning up. It was a cold and frosty start to
the day, but it soon warmed up when the Sun came out. There was a
little bit of colour in the water and we had the occasional boat
come through to churn it up a bit. The Draw took place at 9am and we
fished 10 - 3. At the weigh in Tony Wright came in first with
1.4.8 mainly of Gudgeon caught on the pole mid stream with a varying
baits. (Pinkie, bread and maggot). In second place was Steve Cox
with 1.3.8, one Chub and a perch. Again on the pole but on the far
bank. The chub was caught with worm. In third place was Nick Collier
with 0.13.8 of bits on the pole with blood and joker.
Please go to the Winter League Table for the points.
A great turnout for this our Christmas match with 15
anglers turning up in what was a very windy and cold day. The water
was a little lower than usual and was very choppy on most swims. The
draw took place at 9am and we fished 10 - 3. It was very hard
fishing with the wind and rain, and all but two of us stayed til the
end. At the weigh in Jamie Godfrey came in first using the pole
with a weight of 20.2.0. In second place was Tony Wright again on
the pole with 16.10.0. In third place was Nick Collier on the feeder

guest fishing. We were drawn on pegs 1 - 15 (the dam wall). The
water was very low and there was a slight breeze coming across the
lake. The draw took place at 9am and we fished 10 - 3. It was very
hard fishing, no matter what tactic was used, we could not get the
carp going. At the weigh in Nick Collier came in first on peg 8

was Martin Beckett on peg 13 with 25.10.0 using the method and dead

down to our pegs. We were drawn on 43 - 57. The lake didn't look too
bad with a nice colour and a slight ripple due to the breeze. It was
overcast and not too hot. The whistle went at 10.15 and we fished

on peg 44 with four carp for 31.14.0. All caught on the pole close

Match Report for New Lake near Great Rollright on
29/07/07
Well, what can I say. It was the first time for us at
this lake and it looked really good. A nice size lake which would
probably hold about 30 anglers, so for 15 of us we were well spread
out. It had a nice colour to it and there was a light wind coming
down over the hill. For most of the day you could see and hear the
buzzards overhead and some swallows were dipping down for a drink.
We were told that there was a fair head of carp in the lake ranging
in size from 3oz to 5lb, with a few biggies in it also. We did the
draw at 8am and fished 9.15 - 2.15. At the weigh in Nick Collier
came in first with 38.12.0 fishing the pole with mainly pellet as
bait. In a close second was George Thomas with 37.2.0 again on the
pole using meat on the hook. In third place was Steve Cox with
32.14.0 on the pole with mainly paste as bait. Worth a mention was
the Junior match. In first place was Gary McCluskey with a nice bag
of 30.4.0 beating many of the adults. In second was Thomas Cox with
12.4.0 and in third was Declan Witcher with 6.0.0.

couple of days ago. At the weigh in Nick Collier came in first on
peg 5 with 7.3.8. In second place was Roy Cox on peg 17 with 6.11.8,
and in third was George Thomas on peg 1 with 5.13.0. On the junior

Match Report for Boddington Reservoir on 01/07/07
A good turnout for this match with all ten pegs filled.
We were drawn on pegs 50 - 59 and drew pegs at 9am. It was quite a
windy day and dry to start with. The water was murky and choppy with
quite an undercurrent, so most people were on the feeder. At 10.15
the whistle went and we were all in. It seemed that we were in for a
good days fishing as it wasn't long before we were catching. At 3.15
the whistle went to finish the match. In first place on peg 51
was Scott Miller with 127.8.0, all caught on the method with red
corn as bait. In second place was Nick Collier on peg 53 with
94.8.0, including a nice carp of 9.8.0. Again using the method but
with meat as bait. In third place was Tony Wright on peg 54 with
90.4.0, using the pole at about 10 meters.
