such as dice games and Roulette, it is useful to have an oscillator which
starts off at a high frequency and then gradually descends in frequency
until it stops.
In the circuit above, when the button is pushed, the 555 begins to oscillate and the electrolytic capacitor is charged. When the button is released the circuit continues to be powered by the charged capacitor. As the charge on the capacitor falls, the frequency falls until the capacitor is fully discharged. |
