When designing or constructing electronic equipment, bear in mind that it may be necessary to disassemble it for modification or repair.

Therefore excessive wrapping of wires around pins and bending wires flat on printed circuit boards etc, is undesirable.

The diagram shows the correct method of connecting wires to pins.
Note that the shape of the wire and pin must show through the solder.

This is to allow inspection to ensure that the joint has  been correctly assembled. This applies also when soldering to tagstrips, tagboards etc.

Don't forget, keep your iron clean and tinned.
Apply the iron to the pin.
Apply the solder to the pin, not the iron bit.
Allow the solder to run.
The shape of the wire should be visible through the solder.
