St. Andrew's with Castle Gate United Reformed Church
Our main fund-raising efforts for charity
Our church supports Christian Aid through collections during Christian Aid Week and also through
the URC Commitment for Life scheme. PARC is currently our Commitment for Life partner but this
is due for review shortly.
Members of the church are part of the Nottingham Christian Aid
Committee and support activities in the city centre during Christian Aid Week.
Because of the interests of our members, The Leprosy Mission and The Compassionate Friends are two
charities that receive regular support.
Some members give regularly to TLM and money is also raised by sale of Christmas goods and donated plants,
flowers and vegetables throughout the year.
The Jumblies is a church group which exists to arrange fund-raising jumble sales.
The group organises two sales every year - one in the spring and one in the autumn.
Originally, money raised by the jumble sales went to support Boy Scout and Girl Guide groups
which met at the church. Now we no longer have uniformed
organisations at St. Andrew's with Castle Gate, money is donated to "worthy causes" which
may apply for support for particular projects.

Shoe boxes filled for Operation Christmas Child.
The Junior Church organises the filling of shoe boxes with gifts that are sent
through Operation Christmas Child to needy children and families in Eastern Europe.
In the summer of 2006, one of our new members who comes from Malawi, told us about the need for water
to irrigate the land in his home village. We responded to this by setting up a Malawi Villages Water Project
to pay for the provision of water to a group of five villages.
