The dimensions of the electric piste are the same as the standard piste. However, the surface of an electric piste is covered with a conductive material which does not register hits.
The fencers are each attached to a spool through which their weapons are connected to the scoring apparatus. The scoring apparatus is placed on the opposite side of the piste to the Referee and should be over 1 metre from the edge of the piste (see Rules: The Field of Play).
On target hits are registered by a coloured light. Off target hits are registered by a white light. The lights for each fencer are on the same side as the fencer i.e. the right hand lights for the fencer on the right, left hand lights for the fencer on the left.
