Geoff's Woodwork

My Workshop

and my Coronet Major

Since retiring from full time teaching I have been setting up my garage workshop to provide me with the machining and woodworking operations I have come to expect.

Because of the space available I couldn't install a modern combination wood working machine so I opted for the fifties technologies of the Coronet Major Combination Lathe.

The machine is very well made out of cast steel, cast aluminium and steel. All parts and operations are very well machined and fully adjustable.   It was rebuilt and supplied by Derek Pyatt of Pyatt Woodworking and you may visit his web site at Coronet Woodworking Machines

Saw table and 4.5 inch planer with thicknessing table attached The 10 inch saw with fence that may be positioned either side of blade.   Spindle allows fitting of wobble saw and moulding block.
Lathe with 33 inches between centres Another view of saw table with rising and tilt mechanism.   Thimble to right allows micro adjustment
Record 10 inch bandsaw and Sjoberg 1.5 metre cabinet makers bench with dogs. Record dust extractor and Draper Bench Drill.  Note ceiling tiles stuck on garage doors for insulation of cold and noise
The 4.5 inch planer can rebate (with tunnel guards) to depth of 3/8 ths inch (10 mm) Fence is adjustable and tilts for obtaining angles.
Square chisel horizontal mortiser has all the functions of a regular mortiser. Mortiser may also use slotting cutters.
