ROGUE'S GALLERY
Beware of any of the following illustrated patches, as they have never been issued officially. This page caters for the greyer end of the patch collector's market, an area where we need to be vigilant to ensure the patches we have in our collections are genuine and not fakes/forgeries or 'repros'
THIS PAGE WAS LAST UPDATED ON SEPTEMBER 18th 2003.

The two above patches are as yet unclassified. Were they samples or are they actually being used now?

Note that the above 15 RUC patches are complete forgeries. It would appear they were made purely for financial gain and can be seen on eBay being sold by dealers, predominantly 'Londonmilitary'. Beware!
Ditto with the above PSNI patch. There are repros of both the above issue and the rectangular one. They are easy to tell because the genuine article is woven whereas the repros are embroidered.

The 2 above patches were made for the Strathclyde Air Support Unit. The lower one is embroidered in silver bullion wire, and was intended for use by Inspectors. The one above is embroidered using ordinary thread and was intended for Sgts. & P.C.s. They were apparently rejected as the Pilots took offence to the use of a set of wings rather than a single wing. I have been asked to remove the 2 Strathclyde patches and the North East Police Air Support Unit from these pages. I do not intent to do this as these patches have, as yet, never been officially worn on any item of uniform. If they are ever officially adopted for use, then they will be moved to their respective pages and will not appear on these pages. Any offence caused to persons in respect of this matter is regretted. They are not reproduction patches, rather samples that were made with a view to their subsequent use by the force concerned.

The Eastland patch is from a TV series called 'The Chief', which is set in the fictional county of Eastland. The Tayside is not a patch at all, but a design which was embroidered directly onto items of clothing such as sweatshirts. It was made into a patch by the manufacturers.

These patches were made for the Officers of the SUSSEX Police attached to Gatwick Airport. These were never worn on any item of official Police uniform and must therefore be considered to be nothing more than 'novelty' issues.
