In addition to the Committee and the participant members of the Choir, there are three main pillars of support, without whom the Choir could not perform.

Frank Jones

I come from the village of Pontlottyn, at the northern end of the Rhymney Valley and was educated at Bargoed Grammar School. I sang baritone solo's in the School Choir and enjoyed playing the Cello in the School Orchestra, East Glamorgan Orchestra and the Glamorgan Youth Orchestra.

My experience in Choral Music has included being the Musical Director of a Children's Choir, a Ladies Choir and more than one Male Choir. I'm currently the Organist Choir Master at St Davids Church in Merthyr Tydfil.

I was appointed as the Musical Director of Newport Male Voice Choir in 2006, with a vision for the choir to grow in numbers and expand musically. I am hoping to enhance the choir's reputation for quality singing of both Traditional and Modern music, which will appeal to all age groups.

Barbara Davies

I live in St. Julians, Newport, and I have two children, Gareth and Catherine. I am looking forward to my first grandchild later this year! I am a teacher at Milton Junior School where I Barbra Daviescoach the school choir. I am an associate of the Royal College of Music and I have accompanied the Newport Male Voice Choir for 15 years. Previously, I played for local operatic companies and solo artistes. I enjoy the friendship and camaraderie associated with life with the choir, and I am looking forward with anticipation to the forthcoming tour of Scotland.

A few words from our valued patron, Councillor Allan Morris:

I make no apology for admitting being one of Newport Male Voice choirs greatest fans. In a rapidly changing world they maintain the highest traditions of Welsh male choral singing, and they Councillor Allan Morrisdo it superbly. No matter how grand or sparse the venue, how large or small the audience the choir give it everything they have and believe me they have a lot to give. It is blatantly obvious that they always enjoy themselves as much as the audience.

Always immaculately turned out, from the moment they step on the stage the choir leave the audience in no doubt that the people of Newport have a lot of reasons to be proud of these great ambassadors to their city. With the ability to send a shiver down your spine or a tear to the eye they truly deserve their hard earned world wide reputation.

It is a huge tribute to their musical director Frank Jones and accompanist Barbra Davies that the choir are always willing to try something different and reach out to a new audience. Just about every concert sees another ‘'first'' performance, earning the choir many new fans of all ages. It is always a pleasure to see as often happens people, particularly youngsters come to a concert not knowing quite what to expect only to leave a few hours later like me, committed fans of the Newport Male Voice Choir
