This is the first picture i took of the bike after bringing to its new home in Brighton in East Sussex  from Orpington in Kent in the back of a van. Click on the picture for a bigger version

Being 22 years old and having covered 48'000 miles. I was first wary of a machine with this amount of miles on it,
but these GS engines, assuming you look after them and change the oil regularly are virtually bombproof and have come across many instances of these machines going round to clock and still going strong.

It was in a totally original un-modified condition with the exception of replacement Marzocchi rear shocks, the originals would have given up long ago and a machmezzi braced swinging arm for added stability.

I duly taxed & insured it ( it still had a current MOT) and changed the oil as a matter of course and used its purely for fun for a few weeks to make sure everything was working correctly and as it should.

A few things needed tending to such as the choke cable was seized, cam chain was noisy due to a faulty cam chain adjuster, Idle speed was  erratic necessitating a carb clean & balance but nothing major.

For its age & mileage it was in a fairly good condition and an excellent  basis for a restoration.
