the Rannoch Moor. Came on the net to see what i could find out about my moytain
and found your site. Pictures are amazing I see you have Dumgoyne in your
pictures too this was really the bug that bit me after walking up this with my
Westie Max. Thanks for sharing your site and happy walking. Ian Colston.
Admin
Comments: Hi Ian The Buachaille is my
favourite too ! Glad you liked my pictures, Dumgoyne is a quality
wee hill. I usually cycle to it along the west highland way its a really
good bike route and the wee bonus of a climb at the end finishes it off!

Comments: Hey
great site! I've been using it pick walks this summer. Climbed An Caisteal last
weekend, fantastic little hill with weird caves at the top! We came of the farm
track a little too late and were left with a near vertical grass slope to get up
on the ridge. Great walk once your up there. Love the fiesta page, I may not
have a dvd player or mood lighting but its purple!:)
Admin
Comments:Haha cheers Dave glad you
liked the site especially the Fiesta page, its been getting some good press
! A purple Fiesta sounds amazing you will need to email me a pic

that one. Cheers again Dave for signing

only experience of walking in the Angus Glens as a child,
Admin
Comments: Hi Angus cheers for
signing, was there just an article about Munro Bagging or did my site get a
mention that would be pretty class if it did ! Best way to start is to
pick a really clear nice and sunny day and just take to the hills! If you
wait for a nice day it will set you off on a real high. Only real advice i
can give is just go for it, although i wouldn't let a winter walk be your first
!

Comments: Hi
Fraser,
Really enjoy your site (as you can probably tell as this is my fourth message!).
Anyway, just updating you about the next adventure - three walks in three days
in July across Five Sisters, The Saddle (Forcan Ridge) and hopefully across to
Skye to have a go at Blaven (where we were rained off in 1995!). If it is only
half as good as our last trip in March in all that great snow, it should be a
fabulous few days. Looking forward to it and will no doubt email you with
details like last time. Keep up the good work on the site - brilliant
pictures,well done.
Admin
Comments: Hi again Mike glad you like
my site that much ! haha I'm going to make you a medal ! that sounds like
one Supoib walk ! If you get the weather then you are going to be in for
some treat, i demand you send me the pics when you get back haha. Make
sure you check my Grey Corries write up in a few days ( I'm still in sunburn
hell) it was quite possible one of my greatest walks i have ever done, 12 hrs
walking in 30 degrees weather ouch !. Cheers again for signing and make
sure you check back or my number one customer shall go elsewhere ! hehe

Comments: great
website - thanks! I recently did CMD arete route to ben nevis as you suggest -
fantastic walk but a bit tougher than I expected - the ascent to the ridge on
CBD - CMD was a bugger! and the going on the arete is slow due to scrambling
over boulders but enjoyed it none the less!! cheers
Admin
Comments: The climb onto CBD was
as you said "a bugger" well said mate. Im sure i gave it a
similar write up haha but once you are up away you go ! Glad you enjoyed it was
one of my favourites although i think that may have had something to do with the
weather ! classic walk right enough, cheers for signing

Comments: Hi Fraser, Thanks for the great shot of the Devil's Ridge: the best I've found on the web. WHen my wife and I did that ridge, it was in thick mist - didn't see a thing from about the 2000 foot mark on Sgurr a Mhaim to descending from Stob Ban. Next time we went up the Mamores, to do Binnein Mor, the same thing happened! I think we must be jinxed with the Mamores!
Admin Comments: Hi Nigel dont worry you are not alone, the area isnt the wettest place in Europe for nothing ! getting a clear view up there is a total gift, I have just been extremely, extremely, extremely lucky haha. Hope you make that view one day as it really is a good un, cheers for signing !

Comments: i think your photos are awsome and really remind you of how lucky you are to be scottish. also if its no prob i was wondering if you could advise me of any nice quiet lochs near helensburgh or loch lomond. i love walking around loch lomond with the dogs, but it gets really busy especially in luss. i was wondering if there are any other lochs near helensburgh that have nice beaches and walks around them?
Admin Comments: Cheers Keir I see your dilemma about Loch Lomond...especially this time of year ! Well there is no shortage of walks around lochs, for a walk round I recommend Loch Katrine you can either get the steamer boat ( a classic) across and walk some of it or you can start at Stromnlacher (need to check the spelling of that?) and walk all the way round, a brilliant walk (I prefer cycle though) with good mountains all around you. Loch Arklet is absolutely stunning although I don't think? there are any foot paths round it, could give it a go though. Loch Ard is another favourite, just head to Aberfoyle and go up that dodgy wee road ( you will know the one !) and you will meet all these fantastic lochs. Wee bit closer to you is Loch Humphrey high up in the Kilpatrick's I have not been myself but have heard good things. Of course there is Lochgoil which is pretty close I suppose but I wouldn't go near there without a bullet proof vest and a nuclear shelter !
If you want any more info on any of these let me know I have photos of them all if you want to make your mind up !

Comments: Some fantastic shots - how long have you been walking in hese hills. I have walked the majority of Welsh and English hills and am now hoping to visit some scottish peaks. I have beeen recommended to start with Stob Ban and then move onto whatever other peaks take mhy fancy in that area. Can you recommend any routes to Stob Ban from Glen Nevis. Are there any web sites with GPS Routes for this area. What photgraphic equipment did you use? Great site. All the best ic
Admin Comments: Another belter of a comment cheers, not been walking for too long (in comparison to some people !) Stob ban is a brilliant walk, make sure you take the Glen Nevis side as in my opinion is the better route, hope that goes well ! only route I can recommend is my route for Stob Ban which was as i said one of my better walks that's for sure. My photographic equipment has varied greatly over the years, the early climbs on the site I only have a 2 MP wee digi cam from which I still have many of my favourite shots all be it they cant be blown up over the size of a postage stamp ! then I climbed up the market with various other cameras to end up with my now Canon EOS 350 D ahhh I love it ! Cheers again for signing and hope your walk goes well.

Comments: Hi
Fraser, a very nice site which I enjoy visiting in my lunch-breaks at work. But
hang about... no progress since March 22nd? Come on man, get your finger out -
your slavering public is howling for the next instalment!
By the way, what is the secret of your web success? Although I've had a bash at
setting up my own munro-bagging website even I can't find it when I do a
websearch - I found yours though. :-) Anyway all the best and I hope you succeed
in completing them one day - please continue to keep us all up to date with your
progress. And Who knows, maybe I'll see you at the top of a hill some time.

Main thing you need is lots of back links to your site tell you what ill shove one on my links page for you hows that ! The other main thing is look into a thing called META tagging. Its all rather complicated and you can actually write a book on it ! have a look around the net for some info its there, and always respect google, hes your best mate !

Comments: I am 14 and have so far climbed eight munros. Have you any suggestions for munros I could climb (not too challanging or dangerous and as far south as possible). The munros I have done are: Ben Lomond, Ben Nevis, Carn an tuirc, Cairn of claise, Tolmount, Tom Buidhe and Ben vorlich. Would you recommend Ben More and Stobbinnien?
Admin Comments: Hi David and may I just congratulate you for being my 100th entry ! anyhoos glad to see you like the Munros. Well I have a few to recommend. The Ben Vane circuit is a good walk not technically difficult but you will need to be fit ! this is pretty much the furthest south batch of Munros like Ben Vorlich. An Caisteal and Beinn a Chroin is another good one and in the summer months it should be an easy climb. Ben More and Stobbinnein is an amazing walk! I fully recommend it if you are prepared to go this far north. Its a long one mind and the descent and re-accent between the two puts many a man off but if your up for it then go for it. Cheers for signing

Admin Comments: Hi Wilma a "Marilyn" is a hill above 150m, they sure are a lot of them 1500 odd last time I checked and are in Scotland, England, Ireland and Wales (even a few on the Isle of Man). To put it in perspective a Munro is about 6 times the height of a Marilyn, cheers for signing mae book.

Comments: Just
come back from Scotland and had a look at your page on Ben Vorlich (Arrochar).
Nice photos and good little hill. Although I have almost completed the Munros I
have hardly ever visited the area around Loch Lomond. Because of its'
accessibility I expected it to be like the Lake District, paths everywhere,
overcrowded pay and display car parks, official parties and litter. Nothing of
the kind. I started from Garristuck Cottage by Ardlui, went onto Stob nan
Coinnich Bhacain and onto Ben Vorlich. Down to the bealach before the Little
Hills and into the rough corrie on the Loch Lomond side of the Ben. Beautiful
natural woods (mostly hazel) as you get lower down. Didn't meet anyone all day
until I got back down to the road. Nice chat with the farmer at Stucindroin.
I will be back.
Admin Comments: Hi Tony glad your opinion has changed Loch Lomond National Park is one of my favourite places ! funny you should mention the pay and display though, as the car park at the Cobbler has just be controversially pay and displayed ! although I don't see it staying for long. Ben Vorlich is a classy wee hill I well enjoyed it, aye see you back for the other Arrochar Alps!

Comments: Great website. Really like the pictures and detailed route descriptions, this fella has actually done these walks. Found the site when I was planning this year's assault on the Munros. I found I have only got another 30 to compleat, not 31 as I thought. Whoopee! Looking forward to avoiding the crowds when I go up next week. So although I have quite a few to do around Arrochar I won't be doing them next weekend. Anyone any ideas on alternative routes for Ben Lomond apart from the well-worn path up from Rowardennan?
Admin Comments: 30 to go on yourself son ! . Hmm im not the gretaest fan of ben Lomond and the onyl 2 routes i have tried are the yawnnnnnnnnnnnnn tourists one and the Ptarmigan ridge route which is 10 times better and really good walk. There may be others approaching form Loch Ard side but im not too sure. Cheers for signing, have a good wander !

Fraser,
I just got back from Scotland. And I must say, climbing a munro (Ben Lomond) was

(no rain or snow), and eventually got a clear blue sky with the clouds below us.
That was some unique experience!! I wish to get back really soon, and climb some
more Munros!! In June, July and August I'll be in Newcastle, so I think I can
make a nice day out to one of the southern Munros, can't I? Hope to meet you
some time on the top.

Comments: Hello
Fraser,
I "stumbled" on your site whilst seeking some routes that do not
appear in the established guide books. It's good work marra, some of your
photo's brought back happy memories. I've been visiting Scotland to climb and
walk for some 30 odd years now, during which time I reckon that I've got about
200 Munroes to my name, however, I'm not hell bent on completing the list, as
many of my friends have done. I find myself to often drawn to Glencoe, Skye and
Torridon to get serious about completing all the Munroes. Good luck in your
pursuit to do so.

Comments: hope to descend from the train at Bridge of Orchy afternoon of 3 april and walk over the hill to Inveroran Hotel. Then 3 days WHW to Ft.William. Havn`t tramped this area since late teens (ashamed to say)and am now rapidly approaching age 69.
Admin Comments: Well you picked the best 3 days of the west highland way ( in my opinion) you should enjoy that a lot, i know that wee hill that leads to Inveroran well, whenever I've done the West Highland way i've always wondered wither to camp at bridge of Orchy then you got the climb for the morning or climb it the end of the day and camp at Inveroran to give you a fresh start the next day. I always say ill do the latter and end up doing the first option tut tut tut me.

Comments: Found your info. on the classic route up the Ben really good. Did the tourist trail years ago and put myself off it. All will be redeemed once I've had a go at the Carn Mor Dearg Arete. Was not sure whether I'd be up to it, but I'm fit, have a head for heights and like a challenge, plus it doesn't look too bad. By the way, do Stob Ban, I did a route taking in the mountains a either side to make a bit of a ridge walk. Was fabulous. Although the ridge is quite wide some of the screes you have to climb are pretty steep, gets the adrenaline pumping. Plus the summit is made entirey of quartz, I've never seen anything quite like it.
Admin Comments: Yeh the CMD arete makes it all worth while believe me ! i have done Stob Ban and im pretty sure the quartz mountain you are talkign about is Sgurr a Mhaim part of the Ring of Steall , also done. These walks were awesome !

Comments: Great Pictures and great Calendar. Being Swiss I am by nature proud of our mountains, but when I look at "may", i.e. the Glencoe Peaks, I have to admit that I get gelaous about the Scots mountains.... But it might also be that they look nicer than they are because of the skills of the photographer... ;-)
Admin Comments: Haha nope Scotland just like that naturally ( as you can testify haha). I met Torsten on the top of Ben A'an the other day what a day eh? was liking the mood of place very eerie( but what happened to all my lovely snow that was there less than a week ago?). Glad you liked the Calendar Torsten and hope to run into you again some time. (p.s Ben A'an soon to get a place on the "Tribute to the Wee Yins" page)

However, I have no experience in climbing (though I´m very fit, 25 yrs old, do sports 4 times/week). Which munro do you recommend for climbing? Ben Lomond? Cheers, John-Sebastian
Admin Comments: Cheers John Ben Lomond seems liek the obvious choice although no matter what you climb I'm sure itll be good. I would be lying if i said i knew where Leiden is but first entry form the Netherlands so that's pretty cool.

Hi Fraser,
Thanks for the lovely calendar - brilliant pics as usual. Ref the Ben Lui
comments in October - you should try the Connonish river route - it's a long way
in but the views of the mountain are awesome and if you get good weather (as we
did) the evening light was nothing short of spectacular.
Hoping to get up to Scotland in Jan / Feb for first experience of winter walking
(will be on Arrochar Alps somewhere hopefully).
Great site. Keep it up.
Regards
Mike
Admin Comments: Good to here from you again Mike Glad to see you liked the Calendar, Im going to take on Ben Lui again this winter using the Connonish approach you have recommended, here's hoping for some serious snow ! I love winter walking and i reckon you will too, My first winter walking was on the Arrochar Alps- Ben Vorlich, and i enjoyed every last step of it ! Arrochar Alps are so under rated.

This site is going to the top of my bookmarks list. Congrats.

Well designed site with good descriptions of the routes. Perhaps
it would enter the excellent category if you included map references & got
that guide book out and took the trouble to name a few of the locations you
