Loch Treig to Loch Ossian Hills

The Loch Treig and Loch Ossian Hills are big and beefy and are a very prominent landmark from the road at Spean Bridge.  Loch Treig is the heart of the area and really is a spectacular loch.  It is almost fjord like since the Easains and Sgriodain cut up either side giving near vertical sides.  The area can be really appreciated form the train which cuts up the side of Loch Treig where the sheer scale of the mountains can really be felt.  The train ride is super but there is another train near by, well there used to...the old west highland line is still there in dribs and drabs and was used extensively for the building of the Treig dam and Laggan dams, and the 3 mile tunnel that connects the two !  wee history lesson for you there but is interesting to see and the old railway through the forest makes easy walking !  This is the start of Rannoch Moor proper one of the most wild and deserted places in Europe.  A feeling of eeriness can be had when you get onto the likes of Beinn na Lap and Carn Dearg since you are really in the middle of nowhere.  Coire Easain, Mheadhoin and its two counterparts are fairly accessible by the way of the small road to Fersit, where Nazi soldiers were held captive during the war (apparently?)  A nice road and plenty of wild camping available down there.  A very nice area at hand here with Loch Treig in my opinion being the star attraction.
