Bagnall/RSH 0-4-0DH built 1962, number 3210 "Myfanwy"

Built to a design by W G Bagnall of Stafford, this loco dates from just after the end of construction at the Castle Engine Works following the take-over of Bagnall by English Electric. It had been ordered as one of three 0-4-0 versions of Bagnall's diesel hydraulic for a Royal Ordnance Factory a Pembrey in South Wales, and was actually built at the Darlington works of Robert Stephenson & Hawthorns (also part of English Electric). The power unit was a Rolls Royce 179hp six cylinder engine, driving via a torque converter and gearbox to a jackshaft and connecting rods. Some components were built at Stafford and the design is pure Bagnall, as comparison with Wolstanton No3 will show. A rear platform with steps was incorporated for shunters behind the cab. The locos carried Bagnall works numbers 3209 to 3211, and RSH works numbers 8364 to 8366.

The trio of locomotives became ROF Pembrey numbers 8 to 10. Number 9 had the most cosmopolitan career, being moved to ROF Glascoed in 1965 and then sold to Alan Keef Ltd in February 1993 after which the cab was extensively modified. This was to reduce its height for work on the London Underground, for Tarmac Trackwork's contract to extend the Jubilee Line. When not employed in the capital, the loco could be found at Tarmac's base in Wolverhampton. The cab incorporates a very low roof but retains plenty of glass for visibility; the distinctive Bagnall bonnet remains unchanged. The loco was sold for preservation and arrived at Foxfield in mid October 2003. It carries Tarmac livery and the name "Myfanwy" in reflective car numberplates on each side. It also has the Tarmac plant number 530003 on small plates and stenciled in white on the running plate.

The other two locomotives from the trio still survive - number 8 moved to ROF Bishopston, and was preserved in 1993 at the Rutland Railway Museum. No 10 also moved to ROF Glascoed in 1965 and is now part of the Staffordshire Locomotives collection.
