English Electric Single Bolster
wagon no 1
[Awaiting
photograph]
This
short flat wagon was purchased from GEC at Stafford where it was the match
wagon for an English Electric four-wheeled battery electric shunting locomotive,
number EE788, which was preserved at Foxfielduntil
it moved to the Preston Steam Railway. It is only 14'5" long with a 7'6"
wheelbase, and a steel plate floor. From its hybrid construction there
are signs of an internal use only wagon probably built by W E Dinham &
Sons of Stafford. Arriving at Foxfield by road on 13 September 1986, it
was very rapidly put to use carrying track materials. More recently it
has been stored at the extremity of the former Bank Top Branch siding at
Dilhorne Park, carrying a large water tank. It still carries the yellow
livery with black lettering that it last wore at GEC, indeed a paint date
reveals it was last painted on 4 July 1959! It awaits restoration.
