For many years the Foxfield Steam Railway Gala weekend has included the invitation of a visiting locomotive which has always proved to be a crowd puller (literally). Some have stayed for photographic charters and use on the regular passenger services for a few weeks. Indeed one or two locos which originally came as Gala guests have since stayed, for example "Bellerophon" and the "Beyer Peacock". Every collection of railway locomotives and rolling stock includes items that are privately owned, and therefore bought and sold if the owner's circumstances change. Especially where items of local interest are concerned, great efforts are usually made to sell them on to other active members and therefore keep them in the area, but this is not always possible. Some ten steam locos have moved on from Foxfield, some after only a few months, others after many years, but almost all have gone on to be restored or remain in steam at their new homes.
