Forgotten Futures Errata
Please report ANY error, no matter how trivial!
FF7 / FF CD-ROM 3.0 final release - Updated 14/1/2001
- The Angel of the Revolution:
- In chapter X two 'long slender guns' should be pointing over the stern, not the stem.
- In chapter XXXI 'the watchers on the bill' should read 'the watchers on the hill'
- At various points the name of the Italian general is given as 'Cosenez'; it should be 'Cosensz' throughout.
- Worldbook:
- The link to the Ithuriel image was faulty due to the file name being capitalised on this site; this seems to be a file transfer error which has now been corrected.
- Introduction, description of the paperback edition - for Ithuriel read Lucifer
- Introduction, playing games - Aeronef web link may be faulty
- Sidebar, the F.I.B. - "America" is mis-spelled Ameria at one point. This error also appears in the second adventure.
- History section - At two points the Revenge and Avenger are confused; the error should be obvious in context.
- Vril rules section - the wounds columns are headed A, B, C/K rather than A, B, C.
- Air-ship rules - Power storage should be in PR hr, not PR/hr
- Adventure
- In the introduction the worldbook is named as "Terror in the Sky", a title which was dropped early in the design process.
These files have been corrected and uploaded - thanks to Stefano Cirolini for these corrections
FF7 / FF CD-ROM 3.0 final release - Updated 14/1/2001
- The word "vice-gerent" was changed to "vice-regent" in chapters XLVII and XLIX of The Angel of the Revolution, on the assumption that it was a typo by the original publisher. It now appears that this change was unwise. Stuart N. Bonham points out an entry in Webster's dictionary:
Main Entry: vice·ge·rent
Pronunciation: -'jir-&nt
Function: noun
Etymology: Medieval Latin vicegerent-, vicegerens, from Late Latin vice- + Latin gerent-, gerens, present participle of gerere to carry, carry on
Date: 1536
: an administrative deputy of a king or magistrate
A couple of dozen small spelling and punctuation changes have been sent to me for Olga Romanoff. Amended texts for both books have now been uploaded.
FF7 pre-release - updated 30/12/00
- Numerous small errors are showing up in the novels - so far they are small OCR and punctuation problems that somehow weren't spotted by the three people who proof-read the collection before it went out to registered users. Please wait for the corrected version when FF 7 goes on-line; I'm making corrections two or three times a week, so it's pointless trying to post them before the job is done.
- In the air-ship combat rules please note that early air-ships don't have wind screens or turrets to protect their guns, so it seems unlikely that they can be used at high speed. I'm changing the gunnery section of the combat rules to reflect this:
- In air-ships designed in 1904-1930 the guns can fire a shot every THREE rounds; the maximum speed at which they can be used is 40 MPH.
- In 1930-1960 designs guns fire a shot every TWO rounds; the maximum speed at which they can be used is 100 MPH.
- From 1960 onwards guns fire every round and can be used at all speeds.
- The acknowledgements omit an important paragraph:
Rik Kershaw and John G. Wood helped immensely with proof-reading of the novels and worldbook.
- The copyright and registration information mentions a discount offer from Heliograph Inc. which is no longer available.
FF CD-ROM 3.0 pre-release - updated 13/12/00
All of the FF7 problems above are on the FF CD-ROM. Additionally
- In the VICKERS AIRSHIP CATALOGUE there are a couple of problems; The file names VA.GIF and V.GIF are in capitals, while the links are lower case, which may mean that some illustrations won't work on systems (e.g. Linux) that use case-sensitive file names. There is also a problem with the graphics index page which means that it can't be used to reach the 300 DPI versions of illustrations. A corrected version can be downloaded.
