About All Saints

We are a vibrant community of highly motivated students and staff who are determined to achieve excellence and success. We are the only Catholic provider of Sixth Form education in Tameside and we welcome students of all faiths who are seeking an ethos that is firmly focused on the individual and the Christian values of tolerance, understanding and support. Our teachers and tutors work closely with students, monitoring and guiding their progress.

About You

The decisions you make about Sixth Form and the courses you will study are amongst the most important decisions of your life so far. That is why we want to make sure that you get the right advice and support when choosing your subjects or course of study. Of course, Sixth Form is primarily about academic success and the opportunities that success will give you, but it is also about you growing and developing as a person. All Saints will challenge you to work hard but will also encourage you to develop your confidence, to try out new opportunities and to take on responsibilities. The contribution you make to All Saints will prepare and equip you for the challenges you will encounter after Sixth Form in higher education or your chosen career path.

Your Academic Success

At All Saints, you will be taught in a purpose -built modern Sixth Form Centre but will also have access to all the facilities of a large comprehensive college.

Your teachers will challenge you to meet exacting academic targets. Your progress will be closely monitored and you will receive positive support and encouragement. Your GCSE results are analysed when you commence your Sixth Form studies and targets are set for you. During the academic year your teachers will regularly assess your progress and you and your parents will be kept informed about your achievements and other issues.

All Saints Sixth Form staff are highly qualified and enthusiastic and want to work in partnership with you to ensure you achieve your best possible results.

Your Life Outside the Classroom

As a Sixth Form student you will face considerable pressure from the public examinations and the courses you follow, so it is important that you find ways of relieving that pressure. At All Saints you will be encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities. These will give you the chance to take responsibilities and develop qualities that are essential for success in employment. You can contribute to the musical life of the school, join or train a sports team, sample the culinary delights of exciting restaurants on the termly staff/student outings, participate in the annual pilgrimage to Lourdes, go on theatre visits, view a foreign film and trek around the Pennines. At the end of Lower Six you can undertake an extended period of work experience or work shadowing. We are always open to new ideas and welcome the opportunity to support new initiatives.

Your Future Beyond All Saints

During your time in the Sixth Form, you will be looking forward with anticipation to university or employment. You will discover ambitions that you did not know you had and you will need support to guide you through application systems and career decisions. At All Saints you will be given guidance and support through the tutorial programme. You will be encouraged to attend University Open Days and career events. You will have access to the Connexions personal adviser who works closely with Form Tutors and the Head of Sixth Form to make sure that you make the right choices.

Practice interviews for a wide range of courses, including Oxford, Cambridge and medical courses, are provided for you when you need them. Guidance on choosing the right university is given by All Saints staff and representatives from a range of universities. Each year our Sixth Form students progress successfully to degree courses across the country, while other students successfully gain employment and training opportunities in the career of their choice.
