The well being and progress of our pupils is our chief concern. Happy pupils learn well. All pupils have a network of support around then. Each pupil is allocated a Form Tutor who deals with the day to day concerns of the children in their particular forms. Under the Headmaster, the overall responsibility for pupils in our school lies with the Deputy Headteacher, Assistant Headteachers and the Director of Studies.
School rules are few in number; their is an overall expectation by staff and parents of the highest level of conduct and behaviour from all pupils. Our caring and orderly community is permeated by respect for person, property and the environment.
Time is allocated on a weekly basis for pupils to follow a carefully structured course in Personal and Social Education suited to their age, needs and development.
Pupils work and achievements are recognised and celebrated. Many enjoyable educational activities are organised and pupils are given the opportunity to give service to the local community.
Education for Personal Relationships
All Saints incorporates in its curriculum appropriate teaching on matters of human love, the functions of the body and an understanding of god's creative love at a level suitable to the growing pupil. Sex education as such is not a subject on the curriculum, related matters are dealt with in many subject areas. Attempts are constantly made to coordinate its delivery between departments, in this way progression is ensured and unnecessary duplication avoided.
As a school we recognise that it is the privilege and responsibility of the family to inform and educate children in all matters pertaining to human growth and development, particularly in the sensitive area of sexual development. Ideally, however, parents and schools should work in partnership to promote the growth of the child towards an understanding of the nature and purpose of sexual relationships. To this end we will continually inform parents of the manner and context in which education about sexual matters is to be given in school.
A great deal of thought and attention is given to Careers Guidance. A Careers Teacher on the staff, together with Officers from the Careers Service, endeavour to ensure through a detailed teaching programme, personal interviews, lectures, visits, careers conventions and work experience that our pupils have brought to their attention the variety of opportunities open to them. The majority of our pupils continue their education into the Sixth Form to ensure they are able to access confidently University, the Professions, Business and Industry.
