A guide for the rest of us

AUCTIONS
There can't be many people left out there who are unaware of internet auctions thanks to the outstanding performance of Ebay, but there are other internet auction sites out there as well. They may not (yet) have the popularity of Ebay but each one has something going for it , maybe lower fees or in some cases no fees at all or possibly just a niche market. Try them out you might find the one thing you have always been looking for or you might find your ideal marketplace

My Advice

Fed up with buying things on auction sites, want to start selling and finally make some money ? Go ahead !
Sign up with one (or all) of the sites shown and start selling !

Start small and slowly, look for things around your house that you no longer use or want, dont forget the attic or the garage, you never know there could be something there that someone has been looking for and is willing to pay good money for.

Once you get the hang of selling, look around for things that you can buy cheap locally and sell at a profit or maybe something that you can make yourself - well made craft items can do down a storm.

Then, once the money has started coming in, consider opening accounts with some of the many wholesale companies out there (or even better a dropshipping company, so you do not have to pay out for stock). Lists of these can be bought fairly cheaply on most auction sites or you may even find them listed in your local newspaper.

Check out information e-books for sale with resale rights. Again these can be picked up very cheaply and resold many times over if the information is good. I have one e-book that I bought for a couple of dollars and have resold over fifty times at the same price, after the first sale everything is profit ! BUT beware, some of these are not very good and it will only be through trial and error that you find the better ones - remember, just because it is expensive, does not mean it's better than the cheap one.

NEVER forget to leave feedback after a sale - but do not leave negative feedback just because there has been a problem. Communicate with the other person, its amazing how what seemed to be a major problem is often solved with a polite exchange of emails. Only ever use negative feedback as a last resort - A good feedback rating takes time to build up and a negative rating (even just one) could put doubt into the mind of a prospective buyer and lose the sale.

Only charge postage at the rate you are actually paying for it, It is so annoying to pay $10 postage and have a package arrive with $2 worth of stamps on it. You may have found an absolute bargain of an item but the $8 'extra profit' the seller made on the postage takes a lot of shine off the deal.
