However horrific it was at the time, the Second World War was a period full of nostalgia for everyone who lived through it. Music and Entertainment played a most important part in maintaining morale. There were comedy numbers, which kept up spirits by mocking the enemy and songs full of hope, which kept a nation united.
At 11 O'Clock on the morning of Sunday 3rd September 1939, there was a nervous silence throughout Britain as radios were tuned in for the Prime Minister's message to the nation, which in the event, was the official declaration of war....
