Hello, my name is Philip Fennell. I am an enthusiastic and conscientious Web 2.0 developer, accustomed to working within teams or on my own initiative in a variety of disciplines including user interface and graphic design, web development, Quality Assurance (QA) testing and technical authoring.
I have spent the last 18 months contracting at HP Research Labs in Bristol (UK) in the role of 'Document Engineering Tools Developer', working on editing tools for the Document Description Framework (DDF).
Previous to this, I worked for five years in the Content Management Systems (CMS) arena as a web developer for empolis UK. With empolis I had the opportunity to work with organizations and companies as diverse as the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), NEXT, Mohn Media, and a number of publishers including John Wiley & Sons and Nelson Thornes. It was during this period that I realy cut my teeth as a serious web development.
I was originally trained and worked in the printing industry and spent 11 years at Fujifilm Electronic Imaging (formerly Crosfield Electronics) in a variety of roles including product evaluation, user interface design and technical authoring. It was in my last role as a technical author that I started learning about and using the web.
Over the years I have developed excelent research and problem solving skills. I am creative, self-motivating and have active mind that is keen to learn and undertake new challenges.
