| What condition of vinyl and tapes is acceptable? |
If material not too noisy or degraded then clean up will be done with transfer (please send an email of requirements or use our Enquiry Form). That is if there is not too much cleanup required or de-noising needed. See Prices for full restoration rates - only for the most recalcitrant and troublesome material.
| What are your postage rates |
Postage in UK for single CD is £1.50 and return of single LP £2.50 (plus 50p per extra item). If you want tracking, recorded delivery is £2.50 for CD and £3.50 for LP.
Please use contact form for enquiries for postage to Europe (approximately add £0.70 (€1) per posting and per extra item).
In the UK Royal Mail gives a £34 value insurance without extra charge - please use contact form for more valuable items - extra cover is often only £2-3.
| How long will it take to make my CD? |
Normally I can get a single LP or tape processed by the day after I receive it. 2-3 days if my schedule is busy, and 4-7 days maximum if stretched. Orders for more than 4 LPs or tapes may take a little longer. Contact me for quotation and I will estimate time required. Allow 3-4 days for postage in UK.
| What if my vinyl is too worn or damaged? |
If vinyl is physically worn out by over-playing or use of a worn or poor quality stylus restoration may be impossible. Major scratches are still a problem for current software algorithms. Also in such a case using a repair function to estimate waveform from interpolation from surounding audio would be uneconomic as these have to be hand selected after inspection of waveform in detail. Likewise chewed-up tapes are also a problem.
In these cases we will return material and charge only return post and packing.
| Do you transfer to media other than CD? |
We can offer transfer to MiniDisc, DAT, MP3, WAV, RA (Real Audio), OGG (Ogg Vorbis), Ape, ACC (Nero mp4), AIFF (Audio Interchange File Format), DVD etc. We also offer de-noising service for MP3 files etc.
| Do you transfer video to DVD |
Video tansfer to DVD is for VHS only with auto-index every 10 minutes. Video editing would be at restoration rates and require a detailed list of edit points.
| Do you do vinyl mastering? |
No for vinyl lacquers try our affilate emasters
