FC Torres 1 - Mulladween Reserves 1

We battled hard today for a draw against a much improved Mulladween. It seems that only three players have survived since our last meeting. The game was played in a good spirit with some hard challenges and although some of the officials decisions were questionable they were accepted. In a week were refereeing and especially linesman have come under scrutiny at the very top level of our game we can hardly expect a Sunday League ref to get every decision right.

Stepping down from my soapbox, the game itself was evenly contested. Mulladween opended the scoring after poor communication from us at the back. We lost Jim shortly after with neck pains although it good to see Matt return.

We did look dangerous and found lots of space on each wing. Our goal came after Neil (Steady) collected the ball in the centre circle and with a number of options found Big Chris lurking on the left. He stepped inside and fired a low drive into the far corner.

The second half saw more pressure from Mulladween who did score but the header back into the six yard box was adjudged a foul. This was really their only chance as our defence stood firm. All four made timely tackles with Ed even finding the energy to make the odd foray forward (and only one foul throw).

As the legs began to tire especially after the Christmas break the whistle came to end a respectable match. The point moves us up to eigth with two results still to be decided (hopefully our way).

I forgot the camera, so no photos of Ed this week.
