FC Torres 1 - Woking Liberal 7

Well the Surrey Cup has come and passed us by with its usual first round defeat. At times there did not look 6 goals between the two teams but what counts are goals and Woking knew where to find them.

Three early goals from the visitors killed this tie off which left only pride to play for. As seems to be the case this season our second half performance was much stronger with players like Jimmy working as hard as ever to maintain dignity.

Moments of note for us were obviously our seond half penalty strike awarded after Rick was bundled over. This was put away by Dan before his goalkeeping brother could leg it up the field and take the ball away. The other was described by 'The Mullet' as a 40 yard shot that cannoned of the crossbar .Saying that, his Alice band probably slipped off and his locks distorted his vision somewhat that really placed him inside the six-yard box.

There was a rather large number of travelling fans from the leafy Surrey town of Woking. I once wondered why the house prices there were so much cheaper than the the rest of Surrey... and then I went there. May be now is the time to put disclaimers on the site but lets just say that a lot of the crowd were probably looking forward to the 'Chels' game this afternoon.

So to sum up it was certainly no disgrace to lose to a better side. When you battle hard and have at least some moments of pressure you can at least take heart. After all we were missing some big players, Ian, Christian... oh and Paul (me).
