A QUESTION OF BALANCE(page two)

BALANCING ACT
Carrie Berry

This issue marks the beginning of what I hope will be a great year for Gator Springs Gazette and Fandango Virtual. Looking back on last year, I am struck by the aptness of this issue's title:
A QUESTION OF BALANCE.

Balancing resources has been a challenge for the whole staff: getting to know each other; learning how to work together; identifying our collective focus; and deciding where we still need more help. You can find out more about these requirements, our editorial focus and upcoming changes by regularly visiting us online at this URL. Poke around and you will find a wealth of information: staff bios, submission guidelines, a copy of our current contributor agreement and our latest addition, the Gator Springs Gazette FAQ.

You may have noticed that the issue and volume numbers have changed this year removing the focus from calendar dates. The issues for volume 2005 will be numbered 1 through 6 and will be released every other month. For the time being, the complete online counterpart will be posted the month following the release of the print version, though other options are being considered.

If you are a subscriber or contributor, you have finally received the print version of this issue. We experienced some delivery difficulties in January but everything should be resolved and the next cycle should be a lot smoother. To help that along, we have changed our procedure for ordering single copies. This is explained more fully on the SUBSCRIBE page.

The stories and poems of A QUESTION OF BALANCE - 1/2005 hang in that precarious balance between darkness and light, stability and instability, order and chaos. We also have an editorial by Bob Arter, a column by Gabriel Orgrease and a book review by Linda M. Donovan. We hope the Gazette reading experience will bring a little balance to your own life.

Enjoy!
