| CRY FOR US, TOO |
|
A FEW WORDS FROM YOUR EDITOR Carrie Berry Yes, that’s the title of this issue, but why isn’t it on the cover? CRY FOR US, TOO, is the first (and probably only) issue of Gator Springs Gazette not to have its actual title on the cover. It wouldn’t hurt to buy a few copies on speculationthis is the sort of detail that drives collectors mad. It seems the Gazette is stacking up milestones with some regularity these days. We have 86ed the staple with the release of our first quarterly issue, presenting 64 pages of material in a perfect bound cover. Over the subscription year, our readers will get more pages of great content and the longer production period affords our editors more time to ensure that you enjoy the best possible reading experience. Our recent call for art has been answered with a bounty of original work that will complement the high quality writing we have been fortunate to attract. And speaking of good fortune, we were pleased to accept a generous financial gift from one of our satisfied readers. We were extremely touched by this generosity and send our benefactor heaps of good karma and our undying gratitude. Gator Springs Gazette is kept alive by those we like to think of as Friends of the Gator who we hope will continue to support our efforts with their financial contributions, volunteer labor and invaluable technical advice. Without their generosity, you would not be holding this issue in your hand and the writers and artists on these pages would not be able to reach you with their work. It would be hard not to notice the haiga on the covers and sprinkled throughout the issue. In addition to these haiku/watercolor combinations we present collections from two other poets, short fiction from twelve talented writers and features from three of our staff members, all of which will be shared with an online audience over the next three months with the first course being served on the first day of June. And while you are enjoying your print pages or waiting for the online version to unfold, the staff will be working on issue 4/2005. ALLIGATOR CHORUS, scheduled to appear in August, will provide you with your usual fiction and poetry fix, but we have some special treats for you, too. We will be presenting our first (and possibly the world’s shortest) graphic novel, GATOR CROSSING. You will not want to miss this exposé on the scaled underbelly of our mythical home, Gator Springs. In addition to another fine collection of new work, we will be bringing you some Classic Gatorpersonal favorites selected by members of our staff from the pre-print GSG archives. Hey, it might even be one of yours! The best way to make sure you don't miss a word is, of course, to join the happy ranks of subscribers. Of course, you can always buy single issues as long as supplies last, but we are printing fixed quantities now, so act quickly or you will miss the opportunity. Carrie Berry (fandango.virtual@ntlworld.com), a former electronics manufacturing manager from California, now lives near Glasgow, Scotland with her husband, Jim. She is the proprietor of the independent publishing company, Fandango Virtual, which has showcased quality reading for a worldwide audience for more than ten years. When she isn’t busy editing Fandango Virtual’s two magazines, Gator Springs Gazette and Bonfire, an international conflagration, she is working on her four novels, all in varying stages of completion. © Carrie Berry 2005 on to page 3 back to the front page |
