JUNCTION 27 COUNTRY MUSIC CLUB By Sandra & Frank Gilbert. Friday 31st January was the launch of the JUNCTION 27 COUNTRY MUSIC CLUB the dream for many years of Country artist STEVE CHASE the venue was the Underwood Miners Welfare club, which is, situated approximately one mile from the M1 Junction 27. In spite of our area being covered in snow we decided to make the 90-mile journey and the look of surprise on Steve's face made it all worthwhile, we arrived at 8-15 to find the room full. The club is nice and clean well decorated and the drinks are very reasonably priced. Steve started the night off (after being introduced by compare Jim or should we say Jimbo) with "There Goes" followed by the River and Down by the sea and many others before bringing on his guest artist Dean Austin who was standing in for Middy who due to illness was unable to attend. Dean started with the ever-popular "Livin on Love" and continued with many more popular all country numbers, which appeared to impress the many listeners, hear this night and the line dancers alike. It was the first time we had seen Dean Austin and we really enjoyed his performance, he was born in Canada and has lived in England since 1964 but the Canadian accent is still there. After Dean finished his spot there was a short break during which CD's were played for the line dancers, the raffle which had lots of prizes was then drawn (unfortunately nothing came back to Cleethorpes) it was then time for the show to continue with Steve doing his second spot, he really was fired up for this night and produced one of the best spots we have ever seen him do including quite a few requests two of which were Rhinestone Cowboy and Smoke Rings in the Dark. Steve finished the spot with "Your Song" which he sung with so much emotion that when he had finished Dean Austin went up and shook his hand as the applause went on. and on. After two more CDs it was time for Compare Jim to bring Dean Back on stage for his second and final spot which he started with the Garth Brooks number Tomorrow Never comes, but after two more from Dean with snow falling outside and a long drive home we decided to leave a little early but we had a brilliant night out well worth the journey. If the first meeting of the JUNCTION 27 COUNTRY MUSIC CLUB was anything to go by it is going to be a great success, the dance floor was full all night and we certainly couldn't find any fault with venue or the organisation. GOOD LUCK with your future meetings WE WILL BE BACK |
