1.Saeviat tellus inter rigores:

Impete, turbine, Carmelitae ne pavete.
Fremat Lucifer inter ardores,
artibus: astibus ditis minas irridete.

Let the land rage with harshness

Attacks, storms, do not fear, Carmelites

Though Lucifer roars among the flames

with tricks and artifices

Laugh at the threats of hell.

2. Carmelitarum ut confirmet ordinem

dormienti Hororio Virgo apparet

cuius luce nox coruscat et lux augetur

cum qua si confertur una

turpis est Sol turpis est Luna

To confirm the Order of the Carmelites

The Virgin appeared to the sleeping Hororio

Whose light makes night sparkle and makes light lighter

with which she made the sun ugly

And ugly the moon.

3. O nox dulcis, quies serena

Carmelitis sis longa, sis stabilis

No te turbet tristis Megaera

dum Mariae lux nitet amabilis

Oh sweet night, may your serenity

remain long and steadfast for the Carmelites

Let not mournful Megera trouble you

while Mary's sweet light shines

4.Stellae fidae, vobis sit cura

Carmelitas mundo servare

Vestra pax sit firma et secura

qua mortales debent beare

Faithful stars, yours is the task

to save the Carmelites from the world

May your peace be firm and safe

by which they must bless mankind.

5. Sub tantae Virginis tutela

Carmelitae triumphate

imbellis est Lucifer, innoxia sunt tela;

Carmelitae jubilate.

Under the protection of such a virgin

Carmelites, be triumphant

Lucifer is unarmed, harmless are his spears

Carmelites rejoice

6. Alleluia

7. Laudate Pueri Dominum

Laudate nomen Domini

Praise, you servants of God

The name of the Lord

8. Sit nomen Domini, sit benedictum

ex hoc hunc et usque in saeculum

May the name of God be blessed

from now on and through all eternity

9. A solis ortu usque ad occasum

laudabile nomen Domini

From the sun's rising to its setting

May the name of the Lord be praised

10. Excelsus super omnes gentes Dominus:

et super caelos gloria eius.

Exalted over all people is the Lord

And His glory over all Heaven

11.Quis sicut Dominus Deus noster

qui in altis habitat:

Et humilia respicit in caelo et in terra?

Who is Lord like our God

Who lives on high

and lowers himself to pay attention to

the sky and the earth?

12. Suscitans a terra inopem

et de stercore erigens pauperem;

ut collocet eum cum principibus

populi sui

He lifts the poor from the dust

and from the dungheap raises the paupers

to place them with the princes of his people.

13. Qui habitare facit sterilem in domo

matrem filiorum laetantem

Who makes the barren live in a house

as the happy mother of sons

14. Gloria Patri, gloria Filio

et Spiritui Sancto:

sicut erat in principio,

et nunc et semper,

et in saecula saeculorum,

Glory to the Father, Glory to the son

And to the Holy Spirit

As it was in the beginning

and now and always

and to all eternity

15. Salve Regina, mater misercordiae

vita, dulcedo, et spes nostra, salve

Hail Queen, merciful mother

Our live, sweetness and hope, hail

16. Ad te clamamus exsules filii Evae,

ad te suspiramus, gementes et flentes

in hac lacrimarum valle.

To you cry the exiled sons of Eve

to you we sigh, groaning and weeping

In this valley of tears.

17. Eia ergo, advocata nostra,

illos tuos misericordes oculos ad nos converte

Et Jesum benedictum fructum ventris tui

nobis post hoc exsilium ostende

Do you then, our advocate

turn your pitying eyes to us

and show us Jesus the fruit of your womb

after our exile here.

18. O Clemens, o pia,

o dulcis Virgo Maria

O merciful, O holy

O sweet Virgin Mary

19 Dixit Dominus Domino:

Sede a dextris meis:

donec ponam inimicos tuos

scabellum pedum tuorum

Thus said the Lord to the Lord

Sit at my right hand

until I place your enemies

as your footstool.

20. Virgam virtutis tuae

emittet Dominus ex Sion:

dominare in medio inimicorum tuorum.

The sceptre of your power

does the Lord stretch out from Zion

to rule in the midst of your enemies.

21. Tecum principium in die

virtutis tuae in splendoribus sanctorum:

ex utero ante luciferum genui te

Thine is the beginning in the day of your power

in the splendour of your holiness

From conception, before Lucifer was, I have begotten you.

22. Juravit Dominus, et non

poenitebit eum

the Lord swore an oath and will not

take it back

23. Tu es sacerdos in aeternum

secundum ordinem Melchisedech

You are a high priest for eternity

after the order of Melchisedech

24. Dominus a destris tuis

confregit in die irae suae reges.

Iudicabit in nationibus, implebit ruinas:

conquassabit capita in terra multorum

the Lord at your right hand

broke kings in the day of his wrath

He will judge among the nations,

He shall fill with destruction

He shall shatter the heads of many in the land

25 De torrente in via bibet: *

propterea exaltabit caput.

From the brook by the way he will drink

For this reason he will lift up his head

26 Gloria Patri, et Filio, * et Spiritui Sancto.

Sicut erat in principio, et nunc, et semper,

* et in saecula sęculorum. Amen.

Glory to the Father, to the Son,

and to the Holy Spirit;

As it was in the beginning, now and for ever,

throughout all ages. Amen.
