"JOYBRINGER"
Name derived from mythological "Jupiter the Bringer of joy"
Joybringer is a 65 feet luxury motor yacht, which can accommodate 10 people in five Bedrooms. Normally it is used by Captain/Owner, friends and family.
Experience crewing on yachts is not necessary we will teach you what you need to know, obviously if you have experience crewing, catering or you are some kind of professional chef this has got to be a plus. A resourceful, friendly, individual with a relaxed happy personality is more important, No sourpusses please!
The successful guys & girls will help the Captain/owner with the day to day running of the yacht. Everybody on board will share the work, this would include for example, general housekeeping, cooking, cleaning, shopping.
The vessel has a fully equipped galley with two refrigerators, freezer, cooker, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, barbecue and a Chinese wok burner on the fly bridge (the Captain's favorite cooking utensil).
Assisting the captain with the general handling of the vessel. This means assisting with the ropes, fenders, etc. when the vessel arrives at or departs from the dock. Don't worry if you have never been on a boat before, the captain will teach you these skills.
Maintenance of the vessel. This might include washing the vessel.
Primarily Deck hand only applications
We have some opportunities for persons who have some training & experience in sailing/navigation a Rya day skipper perhaps, who may wish to gain experience on a larger vessel. However please don't forget you will still be required to help with the catering.
Please note.
There is no position for Captains, so please do not offer your services for this position this wastes your time.
Please do not send CVs unless it relates to your experience catering etc, or in support of the deck hand position. I do not have time to read Standard CVs with chapter and verse, unrelated to the position on offer.
The ship has its own vehicle so it would be useful if you have a fairly clean driving license for shopping etc though again this is not crucial.
What you get for your contribution.
You can expect free! A luxury cabins with shower w.c. Etc. Your food and non-alcoholic drinks are free, we all eat together "all usually means between four and six people including you." You must get yourself to and from the vessel at your own expense.
If you want to eat in a restaurant as we do sometimes, you must pay your own way. I have to say we do not eat out often, Greece is not a gourmet destination however when the captain is cooking Joybringer definitely is a place where you will find good food.Alcoholic drinks can be purchased in the supermarket we share the cost.
Joybringer is likely to drop anchor in some sheltered island Bay, far away from hustle, bustle and tourists there are thousands of such bays we may spend a few days just chilling.
If you like water skiing the vessel has its own ski boat, not to mention scuba diving and fishing equipment. You will be invited to share in the use and enjoyment of these facilities, subject of course to the necessary safety training.
Then perhaps we will spend a few days in one of the delightful small Greek fishing villages. Spend some time exploring the island see the sights and watch the Greek dancing (if you must) in the local tavern.
The vessel is currently berthed in Crete. We anticipate cruising trips commencing early 05 of two to six weeks but you should always keep in mind that when cruising, weather could easily delay expected return to port arrival dates.
Proposed cruising area is not yet decided, however it is likely to be Rhodes and Turkey together with Islands conveniently on route.
JOYBRINGER is a substantial vessel with stabilizers, crew, do not normally get seasick, if you have a special fear of water or are especially prone to seasickness this may not be the place for you.
You must be able to swim, the most common accidents in boating are from people falling off, particularly whilst in the tender going ashore, or perhaps I should say returning from visits ashore after the Greek dancing.
Smoking is not permitted on the vessel except on a special corner on the after deck.We look forward to meeting and welcoming you on board Joybringer.
Regards fair winds, kind seas, and may your God go with you.
Captain.
