Proofreading for publishers

I have taken the Basic Proofreading by Distance Learning course from The Publishing Training Centre at Book House, which I passed with merit, so I know the British Standards Institution proofreading symbols and understand style sheets. I have worked in the publishing industry and so understand the deadlines and timescales involved, and the importance of accuracy balanced with a need to keep costs down.

I have experience in proofreading scientific theses and journal articles, as well as more commercial experience with businesses, proofreading and copy editing marketing reports, web pages, newsletters and more.

I gained a 2:1 honours degree in Psychology from The Open University. I read for this degree whilst working full time and this experience taught me the self discipline and ability to work to deadlines that you expect from a freelance proofreader.
