FAQ

What qualifications do you have?

I have a graded certificate in proofreading from The Publishing Training Centre at Book House. I also have an honours degree in Psychology, and a scientific background, with a great deal of experience of proofreading and copy editing scientific theses, as well as experience in proofreading marketing documents, newsletters and web pages. If you are looking for a particular field of expertise, please contact me, I may be able to help you.

How do I submit my text?

I work from home and accept texts via email or post. I return emailed work by e mail, and postal submissions by recorded delivery. I prefer work to be typed, but will accept handwritten work, as long as the handwriting is clear and easy to read!

How long will it take?

This is difficult to answer, it depends on a lot of factors; length of submission, complexity of submission and so on. Generally emailed texts will be returned faster than posted documents, as there is no waiting for the postman! I always endeavour to give a time frame upon receipt of an order or detailed enquiry, and can work to short deadlines if you have an urgent request. I am based in Wantage in Oxfordshire, so if you are local you could bring me your work in person, which may speed up the process.

What will the corrections look like?

On a typed manuscript I will handwrite my corrections, and enclose a short summary with the returned document. On Word documents I will use the ‘Track Changes’ feature to enable you to see quickly the changes I recommend. If you prefer I can simply make the changes and enclose a short summary document of the changes - this may be useful if you are short of time.
