The Emison Family in the UK

To the best of our knowledge, just one "Emison" family remains in the UK. David Robert Emison is married to Vivienne Emison (nee Butler) and they have two sons, Andrew Mark and Philip David. Andrew is married to Naomi (nee Beer) and they have a son, Matthew Robert. Philip was married to Rachael (nee Wilson) in July 2004.

We would very much like to know if there are any other Emisons in the UK in addition to the seven of us!

The History of the Emison Families in the UK

and Origin of the "Massachusetts Emisons"

It seems that we are related to the Emison families which orginated in Ireland in the 18th century. This family is chronicled in "The Emison Families, Revised" by James Wade Emison Jr. (1954). In this extensive and widely acclaimed volume, Mr. Emison records six distinct Emison families as being the root of the Emisons in the USA. He associates these families with the state that the founder of each family eventually settled. The main focus of Mr. Emison's study was his own family - the "Kentucky Emisons", but he also included notes on the other five, including the "Massachusetts Emisons".

"Emison Family Massachusetts:- John Emison. He came from Portlow, (Co Waterford?) Ireland, to Haslingden, Lancashire, England. James, son of this John and Alice (Whitaker) Emison, was born Nov 22nd, 1855 at Haslingden. He, with his second wife, Emma (Fletcher)Emison and children, moved to Fall River, Mass., in 1890 where he died July 6th 1945. See data on this family elsewhere herein.
