Jimi Hendrix
(Cardiff, Sophia Gardens 23/11/67). Second appearance in Cardiff that year for Hendo. He performed a blistering two show set.

Parliament/Funkadelic
(Cardiff University 21/5/71). Their first UK tour. Only the baddest muthafuckers bought tickets for this P-funk double-bill. If you were there I salute you.

Bob Marley and the Wailers
(Cardiff, Ninian Park 19/6/76) - 3000 or so punters braved the torrential rain to watch the ganga-smoking icon on the Welsh leg of his Rastaman Vibration Tour.

Sex Pistols
(Caerphilly, Castle Cinema 14/12/76). Hymn singing christians outside, phlegm-soaked punk rock inside. More than just a gig it was Good versus Evil. Make up your own mind as to which was which.

Buzzcocks/Joy Division
(Bangor University 18/10/79). Classic punk-rock double bill. An eye-witness account of the show can be found at joydivisioncentral.com.

The Smiths
(Newport Leisure Centre 19/10/86). Morrissey pulled offstage and hospitalized - gig abandoned.

Hole
(Newport, TJs 10/12/91). Kurt Cobain allegedly proposed marriage to Courtney Love before this bash.

Stone Roses
(Newport Centre). Ian Brown, underestimating the tribal nature of Welsh folk, blithely donned a Cardiff City away shirt during this performance. Cue large punch-up involving punters from Cardiff, Swansea and Newport which continued outside in the car park. Thirty people were arrested.
