Minis are not known for their good heating system
- it's either freezing or roasting!
I intend to rectify that, using ceramic heater elements
fitted into a late-type Mini heater.
This is one of the latest designs of Mini heater, with
bigger hoses to take hot air up to the screen,
so it might actually defrost the screen like it's supposed
to!
Paul Compton posted to the EV List about the new
heaters he built for his EV project, and I managed to
track down the exact same model of heater in my local
B&Q, so I bought 2 and ripped them apart....
But, they have 240volt elements inside, and don't make
enough heat on 120volts...bummer

Nevermind, I knew that Canadian Tire had ceramic
heaters, so I just had to be patient and wait until I next
went on holiday to Canada... which was when I brought
back 2 120volt elements in my carry-on bag...
...the gaurd at the X-ray machine really gave me a
hard time about them! He couldn't figure out
what they were, and whether they were dangerous weapons
or not!

By the strangest turn of luck, these elements fit
EXACTLY in place of the 240volt ones, so I didn't even have
to modify any of the mounting hardware I'd already
built. On 120volts the heater works great,
blasting out a nice stream of hot air. Best of all,
it warms up in just 10 seconds!
