De - I.C.E. ing !
At last, it was time to get rid of the smelly
old infernal combustion engine...
...so out it comes!
To help with measuring up for making the mountings and
motor cradle, I put the gearbox into place using some blocks
of wood and bits of angle iron, and lowered the motor
in on top. There's more space than I thought.... great !
Lots of room for the Curtis controller, cooling fan(s)
and reversing contactors
( which I'll need since the truck's now direct drive
)
Below you can see the motor, in position.
In the left-hand shot, it's all been painted, and what's more, IT RUNS!
