Last updated 20/11/08 Meet the Finnish Lapphunds
Also
known as Finsk lapphund, Suomenlapinkoira,
The breed was first introduced into the UK in 1989 by Roger & Sue Dunger (Sulyka), and when I first saw a picture of Fin Ch Lecibsin Rissassagi, I just knew that I had to find out more about the breed. I guess you could say I made a nuisance of myself to the Dunger's (I was determined to get a puppy!). So when a litter was born in 1992 I was queuing up at the door to get a look!
The naughty bold pup with the white socks was mine as 1992 rolled into 1993, and thus started a new love affair with this great breed.
I have to admit I have been very fortunate to have owned/loved and been loved by Echo, she was truly a dog in a million, extremely out going, knew no fear (except thunder!), who showed her socks off time and time again. Echo also took to agility like to proverbial duck to water, (started training when she was six), and has given me real fun competing in this discipline.
Echo has in all honesty been a fabulous ambassador for the breed, she appears in many of the UK's books on the breed, and used to front Beta's Chicken Recipe Complete feed.
She left us all too soon in Jan 2003, and is badly missed
