Meet the Border Collies
Border
Collies have always been in my family since I can remember, but I had to wait
until 1976 when I persuaded my parents to buy me a pup. Solo joined us from a
less than ideal start (a puppy farm!) but we were indeed fortunate, she was healthy,
good tempered, and lived a long and happy life.
As the
breed was not recognised by the KC you could not show border collies, but instead
I spent every spare minute of the day teaching Solo obedience, and we competed together
at open level, winning a Beginners class. When the breed was recognised I
decide to buy a registered bitch, Jocund Fay, (Fly) and to show her along side the
family Pyreneans, with which we already had showing and breeding success.
Fly joined us, and proved to be a very versatile bitch, but just grew a little
too tall to have regular success in the show ring, so retired from exhibition to
enjoy her agility and flyball pursuits.
One
dog which I admired in the show ring was Sh Ch Viber Travelling Matt from
Corinlea, so when the opportunity came to buy a bitch puppy sired by "Trav"
from Romellva I jumped at the choice, and the cheeky Romellva Soda Water with
Elbereth (Soda) joined us, I guess the rest they say 'is history'!
