As an instrumental tutor Maurice Cope has
had a high proportion of pupils who have gained entry to
the major colleges including the Royal College of Music,
the Guildhall School of Music and the Royal Academy of Music.
Several of his former pupils are now working professionally
in the music business, he also enjoys
teaching his many pupils who simply play music as a fulfilling
hobby.

He has worked as a peripatetic instrumental teacher for both
Kent and Leicestershire Education Authorities, and has given talks
at a number of Universities and Colleges on various aspects of
teaching, musical performance and composition. He has also held
inset courses for teachers to develop guitar skills in the classroom,
and is composition and guitar tutor for The Mix, which is run
by Mid Beds Arts Council. He is also resident Guitar Tutor at
Longsands College.

Maurice studied with Hector Quine (formerly
Professor of Guitar ant the Royal Academy of Music) and
Antonio Albanes (currently Professor of Guitar at the Guildhall
School of Music London).
Within the guidelines of traditional learning
he helps his pupils to explore their creative potential,
and to develop a musical style unique to themselves. In
the process of learning he also welcomes his pupils to take
every opportunity to perform, write their own music and
where appropriate to take examinations.
Maurice Cope is a member of the Registry of Guitar Tutors, holds a current full CRB Certificate and is a registered tutor of the Instituite for Learning. Maurice offers coaching and preparation for all grades and diplomas in classical guitar and acoustic guitar performance. He also offers full professional coaching for the lute and early music performance. |

Regular pupils concerts are held at a local venue. If you are
