Ed FM is not an Internet broadcasting tool - it merely makes the noises;
it's up to you how you broadcast them!
What do I need to run Ed FM?
Can I use Ed FM for totally automated playout?
In Ed FM, automation is achieved by loading recordings into the playlist, and
activating "Auto Play". So in theory, you could load in a 7-day playlist
and set it to loop. This hasn't been tested though, and is not an ideal form
of automation.
So what will Ed FM do by itself?
The idea is that Ed FM will be able to take over if you want to go for a break,
answer 'phone calls etc. It will perform segues & sweepers without any
interaction from the operator. See the examples
page.
Can Ed FM play MP3 files?
Not directly. The only file type supported by Ed FM is a Windows ".wav" file.
However, any decent audio package will allow you to save ".wav" files using
different compression techniques, the favourite usually being ADPCM, which
offers a 4:1 compression ratio with practically no percieved quality loss at
44.1kHz. But if you do want to take advantage of MP3's efficient 10:1 compression
ratio, simply save the file as an ACM waveform and select MP3 as the compression
algorithm. Note that this codec does not always come with Windows as standard.
This sounds great, how do I get a copy?
We are currently working on producing a FREE version of Ed FM that will
contain absolutely NO time restrictions. All the functionality you can
read about on this web site may not be present though. If you would like to be
informed when this version is available, please e-mail
info@edfm.co.uk.
How do I get the source?
You can't.
